About Richard Thompson

👋 Hi I’m Richard. I’m an experienced commercial, IP and privacy attorney with wide-ranging experience drawn from both legal practice, in-house legal counsel and legal consulting roles. I also have a Masters degree in Intellectual Property Law. Having worked in-house for start-ups as well as established businesses across e-Learning, digital media, e-commerce and legislative industries, I am well placed and passionate about helping SME's to establish and enhance their legal frameworks. My specialties include nuanced business legal advice, drafting, vetting and negotiating commercial agreements and company policies, establishing robust data-protection and other legal industry specific compliance frameworks and assisting with in-house labour law matters. Outside the legal realm, I am an ardent sport lover, passionate (albeit somewhat limited) guitar player, avid reader, crime documentary watcher, and family man who loves going on walks with my wife, son, feisty pomeranian and (slightly) less feisty pug.

You can start your call directly from your browser. For the smoothest experience and easy access to your bookings, you can also use the MIRL app.

How does an instant video call work?

If the expert is online, you can start a private video call immediately. Once your payment is confirmed, the call begins within moments, no waiting or scheduling required.

What can we talk about during the session?

Anything related to the expert's areas of experience. Whether you're looking for advice, clarity, or a fresh perspective, the conversation is shaped around what you need.

What if I'm not sure what to say?

That's completely okay. Many people start with a simple question or situation, and the conversation naturally flows from there.

Is the conversation private?

Yes. Every session is a private 1:1 conversation between you and the expert. Nothing is shared publicly.

What if the expert doesn't answer?

If the expert is unavailable, you'll automatically receive a full refund. You can then reschedule or choose someone else anytime.

How long are the sessions?

You can choose the session length when booking. Pick what feels right for you, and if you need more time, you can always book another session.

Do I need to prepare anything before the call?

Not at all. You can come as you are. Some people bring questions, others just start talking, both work perfectly.

Can I schedule a call for later?

Yes. If the expert isn't available right now, you can book a time that works for you. You'll receive confirmation and reminders so everything stays easy.

Can I book the same expert again?

Absolutely. You can reconnect anytime if you'd like follow-up support or continued guidance.
